In 1963 we received a Natural
History magazine that I saved through the years. It contained an article
about a manuscript, the Tacuinum Sanitatis, which was written in a
north Italian dialect and illustrated during the 15th century with
simple scenes
from the lives of the Italian people at that time. Nearly 25 years
after receiving the magazine, I found it again and adapted some of
the illustrations
to applique.
Notice that the trees are appliqued differently in the blocks, because
I wasn't sure how to applique trees and experimented with different ways
to make them.
